Set in 1970s Mexico, Roma documents a tumultuous year in the life of a family. This sublime black-and-white masterpiece draws on the director’s childhood memories. The film, produced by Netflix, has received a record number of accolades, picking up a total of 199 nominations and 247 awards, including the Golden Lion in Venice and three Oscars (Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography).
