In his debut feature-length film, which won three awards during La Semaine de la Critique at Cannes in 2000, Iñárritu revealed himself to be a deft, ambitious and manipulative storyteller whose films become a showdown between him and the audience. The same holds true for the three destinies in Amores perros (Love's a Bitch) which violently collide in a car crash at a Mexico City crossroads.
