The Orphanage, the only feature in this section, was screened during the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes 2019. Set in the late 1980s, it tells the story of Qodrat, a 15-year-old who hawks cinema tickets on Kabul's black market and dreams himself into some of his favourite scenes from Bollywood films. One day, the police lift him from the streets and put him in a Soviet 'orphanage'.
