Fribourg International Film Festival invites the audience to pick the films of a section. From 9th October to 10th November, members of the audience can vote for their favourite five films from a list of fifty. The theme for this year is whodunnit films.
FIFF announces today the first section of its 2025 edition. Genre Cinema: Murders and Mysteries will present films that carry out investigations in various corners of the world. The audience is invited to create a sister section by picking five classics of this genre among a pre-selection of fifty including such films as: Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954), Sidney Lumet's adaptation of Agatha Christie's legendary Murder on the Orient Express (1974), not to mention Brian de Palma's Blow Out (1981), Usual Suspects from Bryan Singer and David Fincher's Seven (1995).
For the fifth time, FIFF invites the audience to vote for their five favourite films. The vote is open from 9th October to 10th November:
The five films which receive the most votes will be shown at the Festival. In addition, volunteers from the voting public will join the FIFF team and present each movie prior to their screening. The programme of the Genre Cinema (II): Audience Choice section, which launched in 2021, is not only curated by the largest artistic committee any film festival has ever had but it is also a necessary complement to the main Genre Cinema (I) section, which will be given over to whodunnit films.
