In many ways, this work could be seen as a prequel to the apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic films in the Genre Cinema section. Brandt's film – the result of two years' travelling around the world under the patronage of the WHO – captures humanity at a major turning point in its history and exposes the growing gap between the rich and the poor.
