Inspired by the autobiography of Michelle Halbheer, Platzspitzbaby follows 11-year-old Mia, who grew up in the open drug scene in Zurich. When it closed in 1995, she and her drug-addict mother are rehoused in the Zurich countryside, where moments of tenderness punctuate her hellish life. Fribourg director Pierre Monnard has made one of the most truthful, heartfelt and poignant Swiss films ever.
