This groundbreaking film, which was the only film Leontine Sagan shot in Germany, provoked so much outrage that the director had to flee the country. Set in the 1920s, it tells the story of Manuela who falls in love with a teacher at her boarding school. Sagan's open homosexuality and sapphic scenes were considered too "decadent" by the prudish Nazi thugs.
