Filip buys a movie camera to film his baby daughter. When his boss invites him to record a visit by dignitaries to the factory where he works, the project takes over Filip's life. Amator was Kieślowski's breakthrough film and is a fascinating manifesto on the power of filmmaking to become a blinding obsession.
