In 1952, 18-year-old Pierre Richard skips school to go to the cinema. As he watches the 1944 comedy Up in Arms, he instantly identifies with the physicality of the hypochondriac liftboy and the comedic performance of Danny Kaye, the actor who played him. Thanks to Kaye's long feature debut, Richard finds his vocation.
