An insurance company employee (Jack Lemmon) lends his apartment too readily to his colleagues and their mistresses... The very height of social satire, this tender and darkly comic masterpiece is the second of seven collaborations between the Austrian filmmaker and his actor of choice. The film was nominated for ten Oscars and won five, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
