Brian spends his life being mistaken for Jesus and acquires a fanatical following. Former Beatle and Monty Python fan George Harrison financed the film after the team was dumped by their production company. The film incurred the wrath of the Catholic, Protestant and Jewish communities, and was even banned in Ireland (until 1987) and Italy (until 1990).
