Macario

Back to listing
It may well have competed at the 1960 Festival de Cannes and been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 1961, but Macario (and its director) has been erased from Europe’s collective memory. The time has come to resurrect this sensational film set in 18th century Mexico. A poor peasant shares his meal with the Devil, God, and Death, only to find himself offered a potion able to cure all illnesses.
