Winner of the Granit Best Documentary prize at the 2017 Hof International Film Festival, The Legend of the Ugly King is an intimate portrait of the late Yilmaz Güney, the legendary Kurdish filmmaker who made Sürü, which received a special mention at the 1978 Festival del film Locarno, and Yol, the 1982 Palme d’or (p. 98). Such big names as Michael Haneke and Costa-Gavras are taking part in this colourful homage.
