The next film after The Exorcist is one of our Friedkin favourites. Adaptation of The Wages of Fear by French writer Georges Arnaud – which Clouzot had already brought to the screen in 1953 – Sorcerer is a diamond in the rough that had the great misfortune of being released one week after Star Wars I. The making of the film was as insane as its plotline: transporting a cargo of nitroglycerine in the South American jungle.
