An African immigrant is looking for work in France and finds, as well as poverty, the harshness of French society, the racism of his colleagues, the indifference of African dignitaries living in Paris and all the problems of neocolonialism. This French-Mauritanian co-production is a powerful call to arms and won the Golden Leopard at the 1970 Festival del film Locarno. The film was later banned in several countries.
