Four well-heeled friends enter into a suicide pact. Their weapon of choice: an orgy of food and women. No other film in the history of the Cannes Film Festival has generated as much outrage. "Obscene", "scatological" and "nauseating" were some of the words used to describe it. Philippe Noiret, one of the film's stars, retorted: "We held a mirror up to people and they didn't like what they saw. This reveals how stupid people can be."
