Compañeros - La noche de 12 años

Back to listing

Winner of the FIFF Special Jury Award and Audience Award in 2019, Compañeros recounts the horrors meted out by the Uruguyan dictatorship to detainees in 1973. Held in solitary confinement, three political prisoners live a 12-year-long nightmare. This ode to human resilience is inspired by the stories of three major living figures in Uruguayan history and is a reminder of the commonplace use of torture in Latin America.
