Since his film Constructors in 2014, Yerzhanov has kept the FIFF in thrall. Yellow Cat is the fourth of his films to feature in the FIFF official selection. It is also his brightest and most amusing work to date. Film buffs will also enjoy the anti-hero's nod to Alain Delon in Le Samouraï and his dream of screening Singin' in the Rain in the middle of the Kazakh plains, much to the disdain of his fellow steppe-gang members.
