Short film is the medium that Rwandan cinema has chosen to move beyond the genocide and address other subjects, in its own unique way. In our two short film programmes, six of the ten films are the work of female directors. This is far from surprising given that women make up 61.3% of the national parliament (a world record) and that the constitution stipulates that they occupy 30% of public-sector jobs.
