Der mehrfach ausgezeichnete deutsche Filmemacher Fatih Akin zieht Gespräche mit dem Publikum pompösen Masterclasses bei weitem vor. Er hat sogar selber darum gebeten, als ihm das FIFF seine traditionelle Carte blanche im Rahmen der Sektion Sur la carte de… anbot. Und was für eine Carte blanche: Seine Auswahl umfasst Werke von Kieślowski bis Bruce Lee, denen er seine Leidenschaft für den Film verdankt. Seine Filme Soul Kitchen und Rheingold werden ebenfalls am Festival zu sehen sein.
