The idea behind this programme is simple: students from Switzerland’s five film schools submit their short films and a judging panel comprising filmmakers from the New Territory section – who this year are from Colombia – chooses the Foreign Visa Award winner. FIFF offers an additional two awards as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering emerging young talent. The first is the Prix Röstigraben, which is conferred jointly with the Zurich-based Schweizer Jugendfilmtage. The second is the Special Emerging Talent Award in partnership with Taurus Recording Studio in Geneva.
