Will there be a FIFF in 2022?
Yes! The whole team is looking forward to welcoming you at the Festival from 18th to 27th March.
The Festival will comply with all Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) recommendations and cantonal government directives.
Do I need a COVID certificate to visit the Festival?
No, the COVID certificate will not be necessary to enter the cinemas.
Is there an obligation to wear a mask in cinemas?
No, there is no obligation to wear a mask in cinemas. People who wish to wear a mask can of course wear one.
What precautionary measures will be in place at FIFF venues?
- Practise good hand hygiene
- Buy tickets online
- Pay cashless
- Maintain a safe distance
- Stay at home if you have any symptoms
On-site precautionary measures:
- numbered seating;
- no intermission and staggered show times to reduce the number of people in common areas;
What precautionary measures will be in place at FIFF points of sale on site?
The 2022 Festival will be cashless. We therefore recommend that you purchase your tickets online on FIFF's website or the FIFF-App.
Our points of sale will be open during the Festival, but only debit or credit cards will be accepted. It will also be possible to pay using TWINT.

Will any special guests attend the 36th edition?
Interaction between the public and special guests is written in FIFF's DNA. Some of our guests will be with us in Fribourg, while other international guests cannot attend the 36th edition in person.
The international panel discussion will take place in presence of speakers and guests. .
I feel uneasy about going to the cinema again…
First of all, we want to express our complete support for the cinema operators who we work with.
FIFF will take all necessary action to ensure the safety of our audience, guests and co-workers. We will closely follow the situation and adapt our plans, if required.
Will School Screenings go ahead?
Planète Cinéma, FIFF's programme for schools, takes place in its usual form. Each morning during the week of the Festival, thousands of pupils and students in Fribourg, Bulle, Payerne and Châtel-St-Denis can discover films selected specifically for schools.

What about the Festival's side events like drinks receptions and other social gatherings?
The sanitary measures preventing gatherings and cultural events were droped by Swiss authorities on 17th February. FIFF can therefore organise aperitif and parties. The team of the Festival is looking forward to celebrating with you.
