Pour son esthétique à couper le souffle, ses décors poétiques, les interprétations magistrales et une porte ouverte sur l’imaginaire, nous décidons d’attribuer le prix à Prehistoric d’Armin Etemadi.
 

Stefan Ivančić manages to tell the story of a single struggling mother through strong narration built on significant details of everyday life. Shot on super 16 millimeter film, Upon Sunrise‘s depiction of the relationship between mother son leaves us with a feeling of hope amidst financial precarities. The thoughtful use of cinematography, lighting and production design grants us insights into the protagonist‘s tireless care.

Comme le disait Jean-Luc Godard, pour faire un film il suffit d’une arme et d’une femme ; ici, cette idée est réinterprétée comme un point de départ pour questionner, réinventer et élargir l’imaginaire cinématographique. Un court métrage qui s’inscrit dans une certaine tradition du cinéma : celle qui frôle l’inconfort, qui s’aventure dans des zones de tension pour laisser entrevoir quelque chose de profondément humain. Par moments sensible, parfois traversé par une critique sociale, mais avant tout profondément cinématographique : une exploration libre où les images prennent des risques, se contredisent et se réinventent.
