Opener and closing film, special screenings of Jury members

The Colombian road movie Los Viajes del Viento by Ciro Guerra will open the 24th Fribourg International Film Festival. The screening of Juan José Campanella's El secreto de sus Ojos will close the Festival on a celebratory note. The Argentinean thriller has just won the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film. Congratulations! With the selection of these two films, the FIFF pays a tribute to the extraordinary strength displayed by Latin American films over the past year.

International jury member Hanna Schygulla shall present her documentary portrait of Cuban actress Alicia Bustamante at the FIFF during a special screening on March, 16. Furthermore, Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, international jury member as well, shall screen her latest film, We are Half of Iran's Population that deals  with the role of women in Iranian society and had a huge impact during the presidential elections in 2009 during a special screening on March, 18.
