The Woman who knew too much

Mother

Film noir's heroines

The year 2011 marks an anniversary for the women of Switzerland. On March 16th it will be forty years since they won the right to vote! A good occasion to raise the question of misogyny in the film noir, which generally proposes a radical definition of male and female roles. Were there possibilities to overcome this essentially virile and even misogynous genre by creating a new image of women? This common thread served as a guiding light in the selection of eight films (including Les Yeux de la vengeance, The Triumphant Return of General Rouge) that constitute the panorama dedicated to the heroines of films noirs.
